Made in the U.S.A!

July 4th is almost here, and for most of us that means backyard bbq’s filled with hot dogs, summer jams and plenty of sunshine.  But let’s not forget what the 4th is really all about – celebrating our great nation.  And what better way to celebrate than to support fashion made right here in the U.S.A.

These days it’s tough to find many brands that are manufactured here in our backyard, but I know two absolute classics that make the grade, American Apparel and Spanx.

American Apparel specializes in inexpensive and stylish basics such as t-shirts and button downs.  American Apparel is also a vertically integrated retailer, manufacturer and distributor that is based in Los Angeles.  This means that everything American Apparel makes is designed, manufactured, and shipped out of L.A.  In L.A. alone, American Apparel employs roughly 5,000 people.  So every time you buy a garment from American Apparel you are supporting American workers and designers, as well as pushing our economy forward!

Now when it comes to Spanx, the company is an American institution.  Spanx are revolutionary shapewear that tighten the surface of the body to create a smoother look.  Women all across the country rely on Spanx to create a seamless, gorgeous shape under their favorite dresses and pieces of clothing.  Us here at Cheap Chic absolutely love them and recommend them to everyone!  And the best part is, Spanx are designed and manufactured right here in America.  So not only can you feel good about your shape when you buy a pair of Spanx, but you can feel great that you are supporting American commerce in the process.

Now go out there and buy a great American Apparel dress, throw on a pair of Spanx underneath, and look impossibly stylish and be patriotic all at the same time!  Have fun Cheap Chicers.
